Mograph High5 // 25

The last couple of weeks have been pretty crazy around here. Getting some things wrapped up before making the trek out to Vancouver for Blend.

1.

Works With Nest from Oddfellows on Vimeo.

Such a beautiful piece. The mix of real product shots with the animation is done perfectly. Every frame is gorgeously designed. This is what motion design done with excellence should look like. Notice how powerful those transitions can be? Pre-production is key.

2.

ASICS - Hello Savants from Not To Scale on Vimeo.

An origami tiger. Are you kidding? This piece is rad. Another good example of how to mix real objects with animation correctly. Love the 2D cel style effects.

3.

Facebook Moments from Ben Hughes on Vimeo.
Discovered this piece at OFFF Cincinnati this year. Ben Hughes, Creative Director at B-Reel was one of the presenters. The animation and design in this are all great. The one thing that sticks out, and one of the points of Ben's presentation, animation to show off a feature about making photo swapping easier is kind of wrong. Wouldn't you want to show off actual photos? Ben's point was that because it was animation and not what you expected, it stood out.

4.

Discount Vouchers from Breakfast of Champions on Vimeo.

I always enjoy watching the work that comes out of Breakfast of Champions. I really dig their style. I'm also a sucker for 2D explosions and this is like a buffet of cartoony blasts. Also a great example of how understanding and applying some of the animation principles, in this case overshoots, can make your animations more dynamic and interesting.

5.

Blend Presents: Joey Korenman from Wine after Coffee. on Vimeo.

I'm so ready for Blend. I love these announcement animations. If you missed the one explaining what the festival is all about you should definitely check it out. This shout out is for School of Motion founder and Blend host, Joey Korenman. Joey is an awesome guy who is down to earth and a natural speaker. I can't wait to watch him host. No matter what, Blend is going to be awesome, but Joey hosting will make it a blast. I hope to meet some of you in Vancouver.
