Mograph High5 // 005

I spend way too much time browsing motion graphics (mograph) on Vimeo. Although, it is a great way to stay on top of the latest trends, get inspired, and connect with other like minded artists. It's kind of mind blowing how many new animations pop up each week. Both newly posted projects and older pieces that are new to me. There's a lot to sort through and not all of the pieces are worth the time and effort. I decided to start cataloging what I find and hopefully save time for others. My goal is to post my five favorite finds each week.

Here are my favorites this week:

'Phantom Power' Music Promo from Persistent Peril on Vimeo.
Really like this piece. Animated music videos are a great idea and this one is executed very well. The negative space is almost like an additional character. Love the liquid feel of the characters as they are being sucked back into the portal.

You Lose! from RE:MADE on Vimeo.
Great story with a nice twist. The character's expressions are great and do a nice job at conveying emotion. Can't believe it's an ad for a cable modem which makes it even better.

This is a great way to showcase a standalone product while spicing it up with some slick animation. The text animations are incredibly smooth and the tracking keeps it moving and gives it energy.

Onward Internet from Buck on Vimeo.
This is a fun little piece. So many different methods of animation all compiled into one. The voice over is perfect.

HOW TO BE A SUPERVILLAIN - ILLANIM 2014 from Alkanoids on Vimeo.
A project completed in 2 days by 7 illustrators and 7 animators. This experiment turned out great. Really fun to watch. So many great things about this piece. Overall the animations are really smooth. I think my favorite is the title card for #4
