This was a pretty big week in the mograph world. First Vox dropped their take on a presidential interview. Then a couple of days later everyone was buzzing about the 2015 FITC Tokyo titles. I'm sure most everyone has already seen them but I'm including them in the list anyway.
I was first introduced to Vox with this piece back when they first launched:
I've always been a fan of Ezra Klein. When his reporting/breakdown of big concepts was paired with motion graphics I was blown away. I love the work these guys are putting out. Vox has raised the bar with these interviews.
FITC Tokyo 2015 Titles from FITC on Vimeo.
Feels so cinematic. Everything cuts on the beat. Colors are bold and bright. Looks like controlled chaos. Make sure you check out the write up on Motionographer: http://bit.ly/1zgWBMg
There's also a link there to the process video.
ESPN Cricket World Cup from Cub Studio on Vimeo.
Love these breakdowns of a sport. So fun to watch. If you've never seen their explanation of American Football go check it out now: https://vimeo.com/84751465
Everything feels so smooth and the transitions are seamless.
IMO ~ Shipshape from Trunk Animation on Vimeo.
A serious topic but fun illustrations. I really like how the world around the ship rotates but the ship stays centered in the frame. The smoke feels nice too. Has a nice cel style feel to it.
FXX - Wilfred Season 4 from Impactist on Vimeo.
Wilfred was the best! I always loved watching these quick animations between commercial breaks. My favorite was a loop of Wilfred unzipping into Ryan and then Ryan unzipping into Wilfred. I never get tired of watching cel style animation.
